10 Skin Related Issues in Children

Children's skin is prone to be sensitive. They might get numerous skin-related issues that can sometimes be painful and last long. They encounter such challenges because they are growing, and many-body changes occur during their growing process.

So, whenever you see an unusual behavior in your children, like pain or itching, discuss with them to see if they need a dermatologist consultation. Their skin might likely be infected with fungal or bacterial issues.

Let's have a look together at some common skin-related issues that can affect children.

Prickly Heat: This is a common summertime issue with children exposed to the sun's harsh rays. It is associated with red or pink small pimples on your children's neck, shoulders, and head.

Acne: It can build up on the neck, face, upper back, shoulders, and chest. It breaks on the skin and leaves marks such as whiteheads, blackheads, pimples, and nodules.

Chickenpox: It's a highly contagious skin-related issue that your child may encounter. The symptoms are blister-like itchy rashes. Since it is highly contagious, family members are advised to keep a safe distance and consult a GP or dermatologist immediately.

Wart: They usually grow on fingers and hands. The colors of warts are similar to your skin color, and they can also grow on your feet. It is advised to see your doctor immediately.

Eczema: When it occurs, your child faces itchiness, and their skin gets red and dry. This commonly can be witnessed on ears, eyes, back of knees, and elbows.

Heat Rashes: These may occur due to sweltering heat or humid weather. Usually, it happens on the stomach, back, thighs, and near neck areas of children. In general, it disappears and heals with time. Try to make your children wear loose-fitting cotton clothes for relief.

Contact Dermatitis: As the name suggests, when your child's skin comes with something allergenic, it leads to the onset of this condition. For contact dermatitis, it is mandatory to schedule a dermatologist appointment.

Diaper Rashes: This occurs in toddlers and newborns who remain in diapers for long. It is caused by bacteria or fungal infection.

Vitiligo: This condition is indicated by a loss of skin shade because the immune system annihilates the cells that give skin its tone.

Keratosis pilaris: This skin condition is caused by the overproduction of keratin. This can lead to bumps on the skin surface due to blocked hair follicles.

The treatment for these skin conditions is usually in the form of an antifungal cream or ointment available at a low price at any pharmacy. The skin specialist will advise a topical application of such cream on the affected area for gradual relief from the skin problems listed above.

Conclusion

Many people lean towards home remedies to get these conditions cured. But it is strongly advised to visit a dermatologist or a GP to have an expert determine the right course of treatment for such conditions in children.
